Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic Therapy refers to schools of therapy and counselling which are derived from Freudian theories, and which emphasise the unconscious mental process which influences human behaviour.  Clients who are interested in personal growth and increased self-awareness are likely to benefit from a psychodynamic approach in counselling.  Psychodynamic counselling is appropriate for clients who are interested in looking at past experience in relation to current difficulties; this could include clients who have experienced trauma in the past, and people who feel compelled to repeat destructive patterns of behaviour or relationships.
